Toyota's Safety Sense Program
Lethbridge Toyota is excited to introduce Lethbridge-area drivers to Toyota’s new Safety Sense program, which is designed to keep you and your passengers protected on the open road. Not only does Safety Sense provide a Pre-Collision System and Lane Departure Alert, but it also gives you Automatic High Beams, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection Function, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Let’s take a look at each of these devices in some detail.
Basically, Toyota Safety Sense’s Pre-Collision System relies upon an in-vehicle camera and a laser to gather information about the speed and performance of the vehicle in front of yours. If it determines that there’s a possibility of a collision, then the system will alert you, thereby enabling you to better avoid imminent accidents. And in extreme cases, the Toyota will apply the brakes itself. (Of course, sometimes a collision is unavoidable; in such cases, avail yourself of our Lethbridge Service Center for all your repairs.)
Lane Departure Alert
With its new Lane Departure Alert device, the Toyota Safety Sense system makes it possible for your Toyota to determine when you have begun to drift on the highway, allowing you to more easily stay on track and giving you some additional peace of mind out on the highway. In fact, as with the Pre-Collision System, the Lane Departure Alert device can even begun to auto-correct if it deems such correction necessary.
Automatic High Beams
The Toyota Safety Sense’s Automatic High Beams make night-time driving safe and easier than ever. Using an in-vehicle camera, the device can identify and distinguish between the headlights of oncoming vehicles and the taillights of receding vehicles and turn the headlights of your own Toyota on or off depending on what it determines, allowing you to relax when it comes to ensuring that you have enough—but not too much—light on the open road.
Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection Function
With its in-vehicle camera and front-grille mounted, millimeter wave-radar device, the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection Function is able to determine when a pedestrian—rather than a vehicle—is in your vehicle’s path and help you to respond appropriately. If you receive a pedestrian alert and fail to brake in time, the system will activate the brakes automatically.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
Finally, the Toyota Safety Sense’s also possesses a Dynamic Radar Cruise Control system that is able to accelerate or decelerate according to the speed of surrounding vehicles, making it possible for you to sit back and relax on your next drive.
