Along with the design changes, Toyota replaced the traditional V8 with a 3.5L turbocharged V6 paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. For the 2022 model year, three engine configurations are available. Two of these configurations include Toyota’s i-Force MAX hybrid technology for increased power and fuel efficiency. On most trim levels, the optimized engine will generate 389 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque.
In both the TRD Pro and Capstone trims sits a more powerful engine making 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. The entry-level SR trim carries the only configuration without a hybrid, producing a still-impressive 348 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. With an up to 12,000-pound towing capacity, the 2022 Tundra will be able to handle almost anything thrown at it.
Whether you need a dedicated work truck, or a comfortable high-riding vehicle for occasional hauling, the new 2022 Tundra is a great choice.
