On July 5 and 6, 2025, the Lethbridge Filipino Heritage Festival took place at Henderson Parkāan inspiring celebration that brought people together to honor Filipino culture, traditions, values, language, and of course, food. It was more than just an event; it was a heartwarming reminder of home for many, and a way to share that warmth with the broader community.
The park was filled with laughter, music, and energy. Traditional games brought waves of nostalgia, especially for adults who fondly remembered playing them during childhood. The air was alive with music, dancing, and singing, featuring a mix of modern and traditional Filipino performances that sparked pride and joy throughout the crowd.
A major highlight was the Flores de Mayo or Santacruzan, a beautiful religious and cultural procession that honored the Virgin Mary. Women and children wore elegant gowns, showcasing devotion, grace, and tradition.
And of course, the food was a celebration in itself!
If thereās one thing that brings Filipinos togetherāno matter where they are in the worldāitās food. Itās more than just something we eat; itās our love language and a true expression of Filipino hospitality.
