All models are powered by a 1.5 Litre, 4-cylinder, 16-valve, DOHC, VVT-i equipped engine that kicks out an ample 106 Horsepower without breaking a sweat. Featuring Electronic Throttle Control System with Intelligence and Sequential Multiport Electronic Fuel Injection, the Yaris engine is designed to deliver improved low- and mid-range Torque along with excellent fuel efficiency.

Yaris puts maximum power to the ground with a choice of a 4-speed Automatic, complete with Super ECT [Electronically Controlled Transmission], Overdrive and Uphill/Downhill Shift Control. Or a 5-speed Manual with gear ratios so finely tuned you can almost hear the engine humming with joy.

Variable Valve Timing-Intelligence
Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence [VVT-i] continuously alters intake camshaft timing to create ideal intake valve control for any given engine condition. Just one of many technological innovations that provide Yaris with exceptional performance, enviable fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. And just one more way that Toyota works to continuously make things better.

Yaris' designers and engineers have taken the concept of performance to a higher level with features such as a stronger body, advanced suspension systems, and dramatically reduced vibration and road noise. The result: an even higher order of steering feel, an almost intuitive ability to hug the road, and one of the smoothest rides around.

With its solid platform, short overhangs, low centre of gravity and a suspension geometry that features MacPherson Struts up-front, Torsion Beam in the rear, Yaris delivers "fun-to-drive" handling and excellent manoeuvrability. Agile in the corners. Quick and confident in the straight-away. With a turning radius of a mere 10.4 m or 34.1 ft.

A combination of the smooth and the quiet - not a concept normally associated with smaller cars. Until the Yaris came along. Using computer-aided Engineering to analyze vibration frequency characteristics created by the engine and suspension, Yaris designers have put together a structure purpose-built to reduce body vibration. In addition, extensive measures have been taken to isolate Yaris' interior from the noise of road and wind.

On the 4-speed Automatic, Super ECT allows the Engine Control Module [ECM] to manage shift decisions based on engine speed and load. The result: every shift is as precise and seamless as possible. The ECM also monitors throttle position, road speed, power requirements and operating temperature to efficiently direct gear selection and adjust shift points to driving demands. State of the art just keeps getting better.

"Peace of mind" could well be Yaris' middle name. From the solidly reinforced Impact-Absorbing Body structure and the Whiplash Injury Lessening Front Seats, to the Dual-Stage Front Airbags, the Yaris is like having your own personal bodyguard, without the Alpha male attitude. Throw in standard Engine Immobilizer - and your protection is complete.

The best defence is a good offence, which is why Yaris features large front disc brakes and optional ABS with EBD [Electronic Brake Force Distribution] which automatically distributes brake force to each wheel in accordance with road conditions and vehicle load.

Outside, Yaris' body structure has been specifically designed to more efficiently and effectively channel impact energy around and away from the passenger cabin. Inside, Whiplash Injury Lessening Front Seats, Standard Dual-Stage Airbags and a host of other safety measures - including impact absorbing materials in the pillars and roof - lessen the blow in the event of collision. The Enhanced Convenience, Appearance and Aero Packages increase the safety quotient by adding Front Seat Mounted Side Airbags and Front Head and Side Curtain Airbags.
